"Ikigai" is the Japanese philosophy of having a source of value in one's life that makes everything worthwhile. It's your reason to get out of bed in the morning. Ikigai is often represented as the center of a Venn diagram overlapping what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs and what you can be paid for.
What is Ikigai Fiber? I have been fascinated with Japanese crafting for many years and have been fortunate to take workshops on Sashiko, boro and indigo dyeing. Japan has a tradition of handcrafting dating back centuries. Because of the social value of handcrafting, it is no wonder that their supplies are sophisticated yet practical. Although I'm starting with yarn, I envision Ikigai Fiber eventually carrying supplies and offering tutorials on many of these Japanese-inspired hand crafts.
