The Craft Yarn Council creates and sets yarn standards on commonly used gauges and needle/hook sizes. Now you can easily find the right yarn size for your project based on gauge. We have categorized our yarns by their different weights, remembering that you can definitely interchange yarns within the weight category.
We carry all the weights of yarn, including some wonderful handspun novelty yarns. These range from lace to super bulky, so lots to choose from for your next project.
The AVERAGE gauge for each weight includes:
Lace weight (#0) 8 or more stitches per inch on US size 000 - 1 needle
Super Fine/ Fingering (#1) 7-8 stitches per inch on US size 1 - 3 needle
Fine / Sport (#2) 6-7 stitches per inch on US size 3 - 5 needle
Light / DK (#3) 5-6 stitches per inch on US size 5-7 needle
Medium / Worsted (#4) 4-5 stitches per inch on US size 7-9 needle
Bulky (#5) 3-4 stitches per inch on US size 9-11 needle
Super Bulky (#6) 2-3 stitches per inch on US size 11-17 needle
