Circle Fused Glass Earrings
Dichroic glass is created by a vacuum process that deposits multiple layers of metals onto the surface of the glass. The glass manipulates light by transmitting one color through the glass while a second color is reflected from the surface.
Most of John's pins, pendants and earrings are made with Dichroic Glass and capped with clear glass; the two pieces of glass are then fused together at about 1800 degrees. The addition of the clear cap gives a better dimension to the final piece. Sometimes grinding is required to achieve the desired shape; after a piece is ground it must be fire-polished to attain a glossy finish.
The metal on the dangle earrings is silver plate, and on the studs it is stainless steel.
