What is the purpose of a bolster in yoga?

It's a heart opener that allows the shoulders, chest, and abdomen to open and relax, which creates a relieving stretch. This is a very relaxing pose because the bolster keeps your head, neck, and back fully supported so that you can lay back and relax (from "EverydayYoga.com")


About the Bolster:
Our Yoga Bolster has a removable, washable, drawstring cover made with a combination of colorful 100 % cotton Batik (middle portion of cover) and a Black Cotton Blend (each end of the cover).

Inside cotton fabric Bolster pillow is filled with cotton batt and has a zipper closure; filling can be removed or added later, to maintain desired firmness. If filling compresses too much over time, roll up an old towel to create a new, firmer core to your bolster.

Great prop for Yoga or just simply, relaxing.
