On a c-o-l-d January day ….

Leaving Orlando early this week, the driver greeted me with “boy it’s cold out this morning!” hmmm 68 vs the 13 I was going back to …. it is all what you are used to but  who knew it would get this cold? To help warm you up, we are going to designate Fridays as ‘tasting’ day and I think through Feb anyway we should have some of the great soups we are now carrying (and have for a while!) available …  so brave the cold, come on in and treat your taste buds!

Speaking of Orlando, there were lots of wonderful crafts there – many out of our price point but I did find some new items and am excitedly awaiting their arrivals. Speaking of arrivals, Silver Forest earrings and Monk’s Meadow foods have arrived in addition to a replenishment of our TeaForte teas, single brewers and now some really cute 2 serving teapots. Just perfect to warm the soul on these bitter days!

Speaking of warming the soul, what better way to do it than by taking a class? Spend some time with new (and old) friends while learning a new craft or taking up an old favorite once again. Why not make this year the year to carve out some time for yourself? I am uploading classes onto the website as quickly as I can, but the downloadable version  has all the classes listed. (Click here for Revised Copy) I am told a couple of dates have changed and jewelry making was added so be sure to check it out.  Mark your calendar for this Friday, the 25th we will be hosting a knitting/crochet or other handwork drop-in from 6:30-9PM – hope you can make it! Coffee, tea and Girl Scout cookies will be served. Hope to see you then.

January 2013!!

We have been putting our heads together and coming up with some exciting events etc. for 2013. Starting off with our Feb class calendar which is done, hard copy is in the shop and I will upload the web copy as quickly as I can. In the meantime you can find downloadable copy here.  I believe Mary Ellen is putting together an author night for Feb 7th more details on that in the near future…. and we have some fun workshops for kids during Feb vacation week.

Next weekend, Carol will be at the Gift Showroom checking for new crafters and items Made in America, while I will be in Orlando at the Retail Craft Expo doing the same, so you can look forward to lots of new items in the very near future. We look forward to helping you find just the right gift or decoration for your home…  see you soon!

We have lots of ideas of gifts for everyone on your list – many under $20 (but look much, much more expensive) and show that you have given a lot of thought to this gift!

The January calendar is done, put to bed and VERY exciting – a number of new classes and some new teachers! Did I say very exciting!! Start the New Year by treating yourself to a class – there is no better time like the present! One thing I have learned ….  I always used to say, “well when the kids get older, or just get through this period”, well you know what – it never gets any better ….  new and different things slip into those spots! You have to just reach out and go for those things you want to do. Treat yourself! you deserve it! and the time will never be better!! We have made it easy with our online registrations. Print out a copy of the calendar, circle those classes you would like to take – and leave it for the Christmas Elf……   see you soon!

December Class Calendar

The class calendar has been uploaded onto the website – both on the calendar page and as a downloadable document. Lots of great one day/session workshops to start AND complete some gifts including recycled sweater mittens, jewelry, crazy patch journal covers; most of our ‘staple’ classes will be running all month so you can finish up projects. Lots of OPEN/DROP-IN times, knitting, rug hooking and sewing for your convenience. Additionally we have added a couple of vacation week classes for the kids. November Already!!

Our latest Newsletter has been emailed out. I  am amazed at how much more has arrived since that went out days ago. Mark has joined our team, and sent in some lovely plaques with various fun and inspirational sayings on them, even some fun wine ones to go along with your gifts this holiday season. Our trees are up and full of ornaments many of which can be used as gift tags as well.  After a long wait, the original pepper jelly has arrived along with some wonderful maple cream – the perfect topping for any dessert, and some meats while cooking.

Time is running short to finish up those handmade gifts for this year. Stop in if you need help motivating yourself, we have lots of open sewing and knitting time with folks to help you out. Melanie is still running some project specific Sat sewing classes for those who are just getting around to it … come on in and check it all out!

We hope to see you this shopping season, so that we might thank you as you continue to support small American businesses.

Mark your calendars to join us Sat Nov 24th for Small Business Saturday and Sat Dec 8th join our party before the town tree lighting ceremony.

Mid-October

I always feel such a sense of relief once the calendar has been put to ‘bed’…  and of course, no matter how often it is review there always seems to be an error. On the November schedule, the Tues Intro to Knitting Lace class is an evening class – not an afternoon one as listed on the printed calendar! The afternoon class is going to be on Wednesdays, as listed.

There is still plenty of time to work on Christmas/ Hannukah gifts for this year – but stop in soon…..  and for you knitters we have about 190 pounds of yarn arriving tomorrow! Do not ask me where we are going to put it – but Anne assures me we will find space!

Hope to see you all soon!
